In the spring of 1990 and the spring of 1991 I stayed in Berlin's Kreuzberg neighbourhood and made photographs. The first year I was there the country was reeling from the re-unification process and I was there when East German money lost all its value and was replaced by West German currency. Border controls still existed for non Germans who travelled between the two Berlins.  When I returned the second year much of the initial chaos had dissipated as the unification process unfolded. In many ways it appeared as if one country had purchased the other, not a revolution but in fact a business deal.

I worked with a 4x5 sheet film camera and a 35mm leica. The film is fading and getting old now....
